Brass Mirrors
In biblical times a brass mirror was simply polished brass, shaped in a circular or oval fashion with a long thin handle, it’s reflective properties used to look at oneself:
“And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the lookingglasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.”
- Exodus 38:8
Brass, being an alloy of copper and zinc,is tarnish resistant, conducts heat well and is very malleable. It is often confused with bronze which is an alloy of tin and copper. Brass has always been and always will be a popular material for fashionable and practical mirrors, from shaving mirrors with flexible arms to vast antique brass mirrors with intricate design to heavily polished simple, flat mirrors.
